Our researchers are fluent in more than fourteen languages.  Most research is conducted at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, which holds millions of printed and microfilmed records on five expansive floors. 

Heritage Consulting maintains research agents in the field who can retrieve records not available in Salt Lake City.  We have agents who obtain photocopies of records from the National Archives in Washington, DC, with about a two week turnaround and at a surprisingly reasonable fee.  We also employ the services of state archives, county libraries, and a variety of foreign repositories.  We do not tack on any extra cost for these outsourced services.  Our clients pay only what the agents in the field charge us. 


Our Staff:

Stan Lindaas, Professional Genealogist

Stan’s particular strength lies in Twentieth Century records, as he is a much sought-after probate researcher, locating heirs to estates.  He is experienced in adoption cases and missing persons, and has a broad range of general family history research experience, with over 33 years in the business.  He frequently gives entertaining and enlightening lectures to genealogical societies visiting the Family History Library.  Former editor of the Utah Genealogical Society Journal, past president of the local chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and board member of ProQuest.

Raquel Lindaas, B. A., Accredited Genealogist®

Raquel earned her Bachelor’s Degree in History, and became accredited in Southern States research in 1998.  She contracted with other genealogical research companies, until becoming co-owner of Heritage Consulting with her husband Stan.  Raquel has research experience in various parts of the U. S., but enjoys the challenge of the South.  Member, Association of Professional Genealogists.

Jane Bramwell, B. A., M. A., Professional Genealogist

Jane holds a bachelor's degree in history, and two master's degrees, in history and library sciences.  She has directed three public libraries, heading their genealogy departments.  She spent several years in Boston, working at Goodspeed's Book Shop and for the New England Genealogical Society.  Her experience as a professional genealogist goes back to 1995, and she specializes in lineage society applications.


Ben Fischli, Professional Genealogist

Of Swiss nationality, Ben has also lived in Germany, Great Britain, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay.  With eight years of experience in genealogical research at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, he has also researched on site in most of those countries.  Languages include German, Spanish, Portuguese, English and Italian, and he also reads and translates ancient German script. He is familiar with the genealogical records of Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Eastern European regions, Spain and Portugal and Latin America.

Renee Furgeson, B. A., Professional Genealogist

Renee holds a Bachelor's Degree in History with emphasis on Family History, and is currently pursuing her Certified Genealogist credential in British Isles research. She fulfilled an internship at the Public Record Office and Family Records Centre in London.  She is currently specializing in Eighteenth Century American Colonial research, and tracing ancestors to their Northern England/Scotland roots.  Member, Association of Professional Genealogists.

Deborah Gurtler, B. A., Accredited Genealogist®

Debbie has over 30 years of research experience.   She is fluent in Spanish, with considerable experience researching in any Spanish speaking country, including Mexico, Central and South America, as well as Spain. She is also skilled in the languages and records of Portugal and Italy. Debbie is experienced in African-American research as well.

E. Wade Hone, B. A., Professional Genealogist

Educated in world history and linguistics, Wade has been professionally involved in genealogical research since 1984.  He authored the well-known resource, Land and Property Research in the United States, as well as numerous articles in genealogical periodicals.  He also produced several multimedia presentations of genealogical interest under the title of Heritage Learning LibraryHe is fluent in several Eastern European languages, and spends portions of most years in the former Austro-Hungary regions of Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.  In addition to researching there, he is involved in the inventory and preservation of original records.  Wade lectures nationally for genealogical societies.

Darrell Hooker, Accredited Genealogist®

Darrell has held accreditation for Southern States research since 1990.  He also specializes in New England states and English research.  His passion for family history began at a young age as he pursued his own lineage in those areas.

Gordon L. Remington, B. A., FUGA, FASG

Gordon has worked as a full time professional genealogist since 1980. A prolific writer and distinguished lecturer, he has served in several leadership positions in the Association for Professional Genealogists and the Utah Genealogical Association.  His particular areas of research expertise are New England, New York, Scotland, and Quaker records.
