Your Ancestors’ Homes
Stan Lindaas, co-owner of Heritage Consulting Genealogy Research Services, has an ancestor who lived in the area of Bethersden, County Kent, England. Our research revealed that in the 1841 census of England, the ancestral family residing at Snoad Hill farm. Today, Snoad Hill farm is a beautiful bed and breakfast! Stan and I had the opportunity of staying there for a few days in April 2013. The brick home is full of old English charm, built about 1450 from giant oak ship’s timbers. The grounds include pasture, hedge rows and a pond. A plat map of Snoad Hill farm from the mid 1850’s reveals the same physical features, virtually unchanged for at least 175 years, and probably much longer. Staying in this beautiful old home, the very same home where ancestors once lived and worked, was magical!
