The northern shore of San Francisco Bay boasts homes and shops well over a century old. Some of these homes and shops were originally houseboats that docked long-term in a bay inlet. Really long term! The water was drained, and foundations were constructed around the bottoms of the houseboats. There is a row of several such former marine homes called Historic Ark Row in Tiburon, California. Here is a front view of just two of them. Many of them have been converted into quaint shops and restaurants, but some are still homes. The Italian influence is felt there. Such an interesting piece of California history is on display!
